Happy Friday! What better day to talk about cocktails?
This recipe is the best cocktail I have ever made, and I stormed this idea up by thinking about what kinds of non-alcoholic beverages that I love. I took two of them and mixed with vodka and the outcome is delicious…a probiotic cocktail.
Yep, you read that right. I drink kombucha almost daily and really like the gut health aspect of drinking it.
Mixing it up with vodka is genius for a yummy cocktail, if I do say so myself. In line with keeping things healthy(ish), I concoct this cocktail with Green Hope Vodka, which is 100% USDA Certified Organic, non-GMO and gluten free. I love that they ethically source their ingredients from socially responsible farmers too, a practice I always try to support when I shop for groceries.
On to the recipe…
Probiotic Cocktail Recipe
Start with chilled vodka and a chilled glass.
+ 1-2 ounces of Green Hope Vodka + 1-2 tablespoons of kombucha (I like Synergy Raspberry with chia seeds) + 1/2 tablespoon sparkling water + a pinch of fresh grated ginger
Thank you to Green Hope Vodka for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
Are you sick of seeing #NSale information EVERYWHERE?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is hyped up so much because it really is THE shopping event of the summer. It’s not like a regular sale where overstocked items or out of season items are discounted. Rather, it’s the opposite! There are so many great NEW items on sale. I shop the sale to invest in workout clothes and quality staples. I don’t fall for just buying anything and everything because it’s on sale. I’m not one to purchase the same sweaters and dresses as everyone else. I am very choosy, and I wanted to share my absolute favorites with you below. This is not sponsored, just my honest opinions.
First, let’s go over all of the details on this sale:
What it is:

+ Lasts for 3/5 weeks
+ Once the sale is over, the items go back to regular prices.
The dates breakdown:
July 13: early access begins. July 21: public access begins. August 6: last day of sale.
Benefits + earn 2 points for every dollar you spend + for every 2,000 points you get $20 to spend on anything + pick personal triple points day(s) + get reimbursed for alterations + VIP access to events
+ it’s totally free! + earn 1 point for every dollar you spend + for every 2,000 points you get $20 to spend on anything your heart desires + earn more points on special shopping days
Now on to the categories that I mostly shop during the sale:
This sale is the PERFECT time to invest in quality workout gear, and it is the first category I visit when I shop the sale each year. If you’re big busted, try out Wacoal sports bras (and regular bras too). I love their sports bras because they keep the girls from slapping me in the face when I run. Nike tanks are my favorite loose fitting tops to wear at the gym, and I got both of these in black and in white. Have you tried Zella leggings? If not, you’re missing out! They are so nice, and even when they’re not on sale, they’re still less expensive than Lululemon leggings. I ordered these in pink today.
How cute are these Nikes?! Great for the gym and cute for casual errand days too. Nordstrom doesn’t offer many shoe brands that don’t use animal products, but all of the above are vegan. LOVING the over the knee boots! If you don’t have a pair, invest now!
I almost always overlook the home section online and in store. If you’re in the market for new sheets/bedding, this is such a great sale for you. My favorite part is the Voluspa candles!
Jeans can be so expensive, so waiting to buy designer jeans until the sale comes especially is so smart.
While Satin sheets have a reputation of being sexy and of ultimate luxury, (Martina McBride even has a song titled ‘Satin Sheets’ and there is an Urban Dictionary listing for ‘Black Satin Sheets’) I much prefer my cotton sheets. However I have fallen in love with the Savvy Sleepers satin pillowcases. They come in a beautiful variety of colors and different sizes along with an added luxury of a pocket for a love note or your jewelry. Satin pillowcases are a beauty tool that makes you prettier while you sleep!
A satin pillowcase does wonders for your hair because the smooth, silky surface eliminates friction when you move, which helps prevent static and breakage. And it works. My hair’s natural texture is that of a lion’s. Not joking. Huge, frizzy, curly, and unruly all the way. But I have noticed a huge change in the health and manageability of my hair since sleeping on a satin pillowcase. An added bonus is that my blowouts have been lasting much longer too.
The biggest reason that I was excited to try out a satin pillowcase though, is because of all of the skin benefits. Cotton sucks moisture out, so for those (like me) with dry skin, satin is a Godsend when you want to keep all of your moisturizer on your skin, and not on your bedding!
An added benefit of satin pillow cases is that even if you haven’t washed your sheets and pillowcases in awhile, they always feel cool, smooth, like you’re living in fancy Old Hollywood.
Using a satin pillowcase is a small price to pay to wake up feeling totally glam with smooth hair and moisturized skin! How’s that for getting your beauty sleep?!
Valentine’s Day bouquets can get crazy expensive when purchased at a florist. My suggestion? (And this is mostly for guys.) Make your own. Not only is it cheaper to make your own bouquet, but it’s also rewarding, fun, and you can personalize to the person you’re gifting the bouquet to.
My flower shopping tips: head to the grocery store. I purchased the below stock flowers, roses, and spray roses for a total of $16.97 at Trader Joes. And the flowers pictured below are not even all of the goods that I got…these were just the pieces that I used for the bouquet. Other great places to buy flowers are at Whole Foods, Costco, and if you’re in the Bay Area, the SF Flower Market has amazing flowers at wholesale prices.
What you’ll need:
kraft paper is great for wrapping your bouquet, but if you don’t have it on hand, use a grocery paper bag. It works just as well!
I made sure that I bought roses that came with some “filler” greenery to add to my bouquet. I wanted to make a bouquet that was full length and width wise, so I made sure I purchased some long stem stock flowers as well.
Step 1: Cut 1-2 inches off the stems of all flowers to be used, at an angle.
Cutting the stems at an angle allows for more water absorption, resulting in longer lasting flowers.
and done! Let’s pretend I inserted photos here of all of the other flowers being cut.
Step 2: Layer 2-3 of your standout flowers on top of the longer stems and greenery.
Criss-cross the stems of these flowers, in my case they were roses.
Step 3: Add in smaller flowers, AKA filler flowers (which in my case almost became the main flowers, but that’s ok!).
Add 1-2 fillers in between the two criss-crossed main flowers.
Step 4: Repeat this layering process until you’ve achieved your desired fullness.
Step 5: Loosely tie the stems together with a rubber band.
Step 6: Lay out a sheet of kraft paper or a paper bag (cut open), place your bouquet on top with the flowers and a 1/2 inch – inch of the stems coming up above the paper.
Fold the kraft paper into a triangle on each side of the bouquet, then fold both sides over and together.
Step 7: Secure with a bow.
You can choose any size/color of ribbon that you like – my tip is to choose a color that goes well with the color scheme of the bouquet.
And voila! A gorgeous bouquet that makes a statement and doesn’t break the bank.
P.S. The ring I’m wearing in some of these photos is from Rocksbox, which is an ahh-mazing company that sends 3 designer pieces of jewelry to you per month.
