You know I am the queen of neutrals. I wear a lot of black, a lot of blush, a lot of nude, as well as white. One of my favorite pairs of shoes are my white Gucci-esque loafers…however I’ve been finding myself leaning towards darker pairs of shoes lately, like black, gold, and nude. I started making mental notes of what I was pairing those white shoes with and why they looked weird to me with some outfits.

It all has to do with hair. Yep, hair color. When I was blonde, I wore so much more white. I even wore white sunglasses, which now look really harsh on me. I tested this theory out, and shopping for neutrals that match your hair really works if you’re trying to discover your neutral color. Mine is nude/blush. My hair is a dark BRONDE (it’s a color, okay?) right now, so I can switch it up between darker colors like black and dark brown as well. But the overall color of my hair matches nude clothing and accessories so well.

I like to sprinkle in nudes throughout my outfits. Maybe it’s a nude top with any color on bottom, paired with nude shoes. Or a colorful outfit with nude accessories. Just let the look be balanced and I promise you will look so put together.

If your hair is dark, invest in darker items – black will never do you wrong. If you are bronde or have lighter brown hair, go for the nudes, grays, and even a light shade of olive green. If you’re blonde, well aren’t you lucky! Go for whites and light blushes.

have you guys heard about the glass skin trend that has taken over Korea and is now sweeping the US? I LOVE IT. Glass skin describes flawless, poreless looking skin that is the antithesis of caked-on makeup. I tried the trend out and I just love it because skin is in…and this is a look that is very similar to my everyday makeup.

PINK HAIR. It’s something I have dreamed about since I was probably 5 years old. And then when my Spice Girls obsession started around age 10, I NEEDED to have those dip-dyed locks that Baby Spice had. Do you remember?! So I dyed the ends of my hair purple. Pretty sure I looked more grunge than cutes-y Baby Spice. Oh well. I never played around with color like I did then again, until I saw this bottle of Kristin Ess’ Rose Gold Spray. It’s temporary and $12. SOLD.

The spray color is a temporary tint that you can spray on wet or dry hair, then rinse out and dry.  According to Kristin Ess, “I’m always looking for ways to play with pastel tones in the hair. This is the first ever in-shower watercolor that creates a temporary tone when sprayed on wet hair and then rinsed out. The intensity is up to you. When you spray it on damp, towel-dried hair it will soak up more color and last longer. If you spray it on wet hair it will give you a more subtle tone and will rinse out faster. The pink tone is most visible on pre-lightened/highlighted or blonde hair and washes out in 1-3 shampoos depending on the porosity of your hair.”

My experience: I washed my hair just with shampoo and water, then towel dried my hair. I strategically sprayed the tint over my balyaged pieces as I knew that the color would not pick up on my natural, medium brown hair. PSA: this will NOT work on brunettes. I would consider my hair to be BRONDE as I have several lightened blayaged pieces. I focused on spraying the color at the mid shaft to the ends of my hair, and rubbed it in. I realized that it wasn’t bold enough for me the first time, so I washed and conditioned as the instructions say to do, and then I repeated the process. The second time, I focused on applying the color to the front pieces of my lightened hair and I VERY lightly rinsed it so that the color stayed pretty bold. Worked like a charm!

Ok, so what are the pros and cons?

+ It is temporary, so there’s really no going wrong.  It’s incredibly easy to apply and there’s little room for error. This isn’t like taking a bottle of black hair dye as a blonde and permanently making your hair one color. It truly does wash out completely after 3 washes, in my experience.

+ It smells so good.  The spray is light and floral, love it.

+ Living out your childhood dream of being a badass!

+ Sorry brunettes, but this won’t work for you unless you have pre-lightened pieces in your hair.

+ It is MESSY. I recommend applying it in the shower. The floor of my shower was HOT PINK and it looked like I murdered a peep. But it was easy to clean. Just be prepared!

Have you tried this spray? Would you try it? Let me know in the comments!

During the winter, everything gets drier. Your scalp, hair, nails, skin, etc. It’s the worst! As someone who deals with borderline psoriasis on my scalp as well as very dry hair, it gets a million times worse during the winter. My sister told me that I have the course-ist hair ever (ha), and compared to her, I do have very course hair that needs a lot of extra TLC. Here are all of my healthy & shiny hair secrets:

This mask smells fucking ah-mazing! If you’re in the market for a new hair mask, this is it! Not only does it smell divine, it moisturizes the driest hair. In the shower, it feels like your hair has been wrapped in silk. Everything about it is luxurious from the packaging to the feel. Many times I just use this mask as my conditioner because 1. my hair loves it and 2. love that glam feeling.

This tonic works wonders! I spray it on my hair while it is damp, before drying, or before I let it air dry. Either way, I end up with volumized, bouncy hair. This product is extra loved because it’s FABULOUS for those of us who hate layers. it still adds volume even if you have zero layers. LOVE!

This one is a two-fer. I use this oil after the volumizing tonic to protect my hair from heat styling, and then again after my hair is styled to add texture (twirl your hair around with this oil and you’ll love the results!) and also to get rid of flyaways.

For those of you naturally shiny hair, well aren’t you lucky. For everyone else, you’ve probably wondered how to achieve that gorgeous, bouncy, Herbal Essences commercial hair vibe. I did before I discovered Kenra’s Shine Spray. After styling your hair and using everything else on it, spray the shine spray all over your hair and you will instantly have shining hair! It’s not greasy looking or feeling at all.

It’s almost here…VALENTINE’S DAY!

Some hate it, some love it, and I am one who LOVES it because it’s all about love. I love that you can make this day special whether you’re single or taken, or whether you plan to stay in or go out…do you!

I’ve learned my lesson over the years that going out on Valentine’s Day can just be such a shit show. The lines, waiting, and rushing to get you in and out of a restaurant is stressful. The past couple of years, Jeff and I have made dinner together at home and then went to see the 50 Shades movies. Have you guys seen them? Tell me your thoughts in the comments if you have!

While we’re chatting Valentine’s Day, have you gotten the perfect gift for your significant other. friend, family etc. yet? No? Then you’re in the right place if you’re looking for some non-basic ideas for yourself, your man, your girlfriends, and then some splurge worthy items.

+ My favorite gift that I have received for Valentine’s Day so far are the long lasting box of roses that I received from Blooms by Heinau. Inspired by nature, travel, and design styles from around the world, Heidi Intriago is the creative mind behind Blooms by Heinau. “I have vivid memories of European spring and summer seasons, when everything blooms with color,” she says about being part of this unique floral design business. If you’re looking for an amazing & personal gift for yourself or for a girlfriend, mom, or sister, you have to check these boxes out. I don’t know what’s better than having REAL roses displayed for a whole year.

+ I love giving gifts that someone wouldn’t normally purchase for themselves. This could include a car detail service, a massage, a facial, pedicure, the gift of unlimited movies at any theater via Movie Pass (Jeff loves this and has also given it as a gift), and/or a house cleaning service.

What are you going to do on Valentine’s Day this year?
