QUARTZ ROLLING. My new favorite beauty activity. It’s so good, I have to share my experience and how I use it.
Here is the one that I use.
First, what the eff is a rose quartz roller? It’s a handheld massaging tool, usually with two pieces of quartz attached. One is longer and one is shorter – the shorter for the eye area. The tool is meant to reduce swelling (lymphatic drainage) and boost blood circulation. It is also an incredible skincare tool because it allows your products to sink in more evenly which makes your makeup apply more flawlessly!
Aside from the scientific benefits of the rose quartz roller, it offers a spiritual one as well… crystal healing is all the rage in Chinese medicine, and jade helps protect from negative energy and balance your chi. Ancient Egyptians believed that Rose Quartz crystals had anti-aging properties. It is believed that Goddess Isis would gather rose quartz crystals by the Nile River and use them to keep her skin clear and wrinkle-free.
Rose Quartz crystal is made up of minerals (including magnesium, iron and oxygen) that help reduce inflammation and support renewal of skin cells.
When and how to use a rose quartz roller
The best time to roll is in the morning, or before you apply makeup. I am personally most puffy in the morning. Pro tip: If you’re hungover, this roller works WONDERS.
I use my rose quartz roller cold, and keep it in a ziploc bag in the freezer over night. Using something cold on your face constricts the pores, which is an amazing way to help seal in your skincare and your makeup. The first thing I do is wash my face (you don’t want to use a jade roller on a dirty face – hello bacteria!), then I apply a serum and get rolling. It feels SO GOOD. Always roll upward and outward. I like to start at my forehead and go all the way down to my chest. I like to start at the “top” because I like to bring the drainage down. You will literally feel the drainage coming down your throat. TMI?
This whole process takes about 2 minutes. Once I’m done rolling, I wash the roller with regular face wash and place it back in a ziploc bag and into the freezer.
Have you tried a rose quartz roller? Or a jade roller? Let me know your thoughts!
xo, Lynn
