I’ve always been a lash fanatic. Having fluttery lashes at all times just makes getting ready so much easier, and so much more glam. Amiright? I have tried it allll when it comes to lash enhancements…eyelash extensions at the salon, strip lashes, individual lashes, lash serums, and of course mascara and primer. Mascara had always been my biggest priority when it came to my makeup routine. And…I haven’t worn mascara in 3 months!
I ditched all of the above because many of those products are damaging to your natural lashes. I had stopped using lash serum several months ago when I researched the ingredients in them. Yes, you can find low-tox lash serums but many still contain prostaglandins. WTF are prostaglandins? Yeah, I didn’t know either. Prostaglandins are unique compounds because they have hormone-like effects. That is, they influence reactions in the body when they’re present in certain tissues. {source} Record scratch…say whatttt…a hormone-laced lash serum?! No thanks. It’s not that prostaglandins are not non-toxic, it’s the ingredient itself and the effects that it can have on your body, which is why it’s so important to look at all ingredients that are added to your products.
On the market, you can find serums that use synthetic prostaglandins called:
- Isopropyl cloprostenate
- Bimatoprost
- Isopropanol Phenyl-hydroxyl-pentene Dihydroxy-cyclopentyl-heptenate
- Dechloro Dihydroxy Difluoro Ethylcloprostenolamide
- Trifluoromethyl Dechloro Ethylprostenolamide
Before I move on to my new lash love affair, I have to share some of the side effects of prostaglandin serums. I had NO idea about most of these side effects other than some lash serums leaving the skin around your eyes dark, but I didn’t know until recently that is a direct side-effect of the prostaglandin.
PROSTAGLANDIN SERUM: Some of the reported side effects include:
- Pigmentation of the iris (likely to be permanent)
- Conjunctival hyperemia
- Pruritus (itchiness)
- Eye drooping
- Eyelid skin hyperpigmentation
- Hair growth outside the treatment area
- Intraocular inflammation
- Blurry Vision
- Cataract
- Headache
- Nausea
- Macular edema
- Dry eye symptoms
- Periorbital erythema
- Discolouration of contact lenses by preservatives (e.g. benzalkonium chloride)
- Corneal Alterations

I don’t like to be a negative Nancy but I felt it really important to share with you.
And one note about lash extensions: I had mine removed after about a year of having them done in 2019. And I had missed them everyday. But I don’t miss spending an hour+ laying down with my eyes taped shut which was just not the vibe, especially if you suffer from anxiety like I do. I was also dropping about $100 per visit for lash fills.
Moving on to the fun stuff…
Enter Lashify
I stumbled upon Lashify and was really intrigued. They system looked too good to be true. The starter kit is about $130 – a one time fee – and you can pick your lash style(s), then can purchase lashes as needed. The lashes go for $25 and can last months. In comparison to lash extensions, which can easily cost several hundreds of dollars in just a month. So I went for it and ordered the starter kit.
The lashes, or “gossamers,” come in tiny little pods with a set for each eye; they’re cut into small strips that are about one fifth of an inch long. Depending on your eye shape and size, you’ll need around four to seven little strips—I typically use four. They’re each applied with the special glue, which is similar to (but not nearly as strong as) the adhesive used for in-salon extensions. Then you clamp them into place with the included tweezers, and clean up the glue with the sealant.
I set aside an hour to learn and apply the lashes. TBH, I was anticipating the frustration I usually experience when I apply strip lashes. Andddd…I applied them to both eyes in 20 minutes, my very first time. I’ve been using the Lashify system for a few months now, and my lash application time has been cut in half, to 10 minutes for both eyes.
And they last for 3-7 days.
A few of my favorite things about these lashes:
- They are literally so easy to apply – it almost seems like they’re magnetic but they’re not.
- They are seamless. Lashify gossamers are applied underneath your real lashes, making them completely undetectable.
- You can.not feel them. I was shocked by this. I cannot tell that I’m wearing these lashes by feeling. Amazing!

The best lashify gossamers for the glam gal
If you are like me, you love a glam look but don’t want anything over the top. I’m talking NO caterpillar looking lashes. You know the ones. 😂 🐛
My favorites are:
Plushy Tame gossamers in the color Truffle, which is a mix of black and brown lashes. These are so fluffy and gorgeous. I love that they offer a more natural look with the Truffle color.
Stardust goassamers in the color Chocolate. Stardusts are a mix of fluffy and spiky (in the best way possible), and the chocolate color is perfection if you are blonde or have fair to medium skin.
The icing on the cake is that the Lashify system is non-toxic. Their bonds never contain any formaldehyde, cyanoacrylates, or other ingredients that could harm your natural lashes or irritate your eyes and skin.
Ok, so… the obsession is real. I don’t see myself not using these lashes. A Facebook group called Lashify Life has more than 100k members who share their “lash maps” and tips and tricks.
If you want to try them out for yourself, you can take $$ off your first order via this link.
Happy lashing!
xx Lynn
