Oh, the never-ending saga of having dry scalp. It’s not fun or glamorous to talk about, but if you struggle with this issue like I do, you’re probably desperate for answers, products, and everything you can possibly learn to make it better.
I’ve written about my story with scalp psoriasis and what has helped me – see the post HERE. Well, I have some more products I just HAVE to share with you.
If you’re like me, you’ve tried 9 million scalp products and 99% of them don’t work. Yeah? That’s why I feel so passionate about sharing when I find something really good.
Enter Oribe’s Serene Scalp line. First things first – I have been an Oribe fan for several years. It is hands down my favorite hair brand for so many reasons. The entire line is vegan, gluten free, and cruelty free, the packaging is gorgeous, the products WORK and make your hair look gorgeous, and the smell of every single product from the shampoos to styling sprays are just amazing. The best ever. Read more about the fragrance from Oribe:
“Oribe’s signature scent, Cote d’Azur, runs through the line at the lightest levels, designed so that the products in each individual’s hair ritual work together…and build upon each other. Developed in collaboration with one of the oldest French fragrance houses, tracing its roots back to the 1800s, Cote d’Azur was conceived to be beautiful and bright yet calming and composed—the perfect morning wake-up call, afternoon pick-me-up and evening mood-setter. The signature scent awakens with hints of citrus-soaked Italian bergamot, pink lemons, white peach, cassis and muguet, balanced with Aomori apples and leafy greens. Cedarwood, white amber and musk lend their soft woody notes, while Cuba’s national flower, la mariposa blanca, creates a sensual and invigorating experience throughout the day.”
Back to the Serene Scalp line. The Serene Scalp Soothing Leave-On Treatment and Serene Scalp Anti-Dandruff Shampoo have been rocking my world over the past week.
How to use the Serene Scalp Soothing Leave-On Treatment: apply directly to the scalp and let it sit as long as you’d like. I slept with it on once and I’ve also let it soak in for a good hour before washing. Either way, it works wonders. What I love most about this product is that it’s not greasy! Can I get an amen?! For years, I had been using coconut oil on my scalp as a treatment before shampooing, and while coconut oil is all kinds of amazing, it is greasy as hell. It requires several shampoos to remove the grease factor. But not with the leave on treatment. Can you say TIME SAVING?
The shampoo: Incredible. The ingredients include salicylic acid for exfoliation and caffeine to energize the scalp among incredible oils and other potions. It smells so freaking good. And to my surprise, it works wonders.
I’ve used this shampoo alone as well as after the leave-on treatment and it solves the dryness and flakiness issues either way. However, I prefer using the products together. I wash my hair either every day or every other day (BTW – I don’t know how I EVER went two weeks without washing my hair…I can’t stand the feeling of it being dirty) and it’s like a little dose of luxury every time.
Now, off to the gym for some cardio while I watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!
