Jaclyn Hill created the Ride or Die makeup tag on YouTube, and it has since exploded across the online beauty community. It’s no wonder, because I think that all makeup lovers want to know what others’ tried and true makeup products are. The ones we can’t live without.
Without further ado…
One: The Hourglass Varnish Seamless Foundation Stick is a concealer and foundation hybrid and is so easy to apply, which is basically every lazy girl’s dream. My two favorite things about this foundation: 1. It is full coverage without looking cake-y. 2. It is cruelty free – finally…a full coverage foundation stick that is cruelty free! I had wanted the Makeup Forever foundation stick because it looked amazing, but since swearing off products that go through animal testing, I couldn’t do it. Back to the Hourglass stick. The company says that the sticks have a concentrated formula that offers “double the amount of pigment versus traditional foundations”. It’s no wonder that this foundation is so popular! I do not use concealer with it and it is the first foundation I have ever used where I don’t need concealer (other than under my eyes). Best of all, it looks like skin. No cake face to be seen with this foundation!
Two: NYX’s Stiletto eyeshadow has been my go-to crease color for the past 6 months or so. I am impressed with NYX’s eyeshadow formula. It’s better than MAC eyeshadows where consistency is concerned, and the shadows are under $10.
Three: RCMA’s No Color Powder = you need it. RCMA is not a commercialized brand, so it doesn’t get the love that it deserves. Kathleen Lights and Jaclyn Hill have made this powder more popular, but the most popular of them all is Laura Mercier’s Translucent Setting Powder. Let’s chat about the comparison between the two, because I just finished the Laura Mercier powder. The similarities: they’re both very smooth and finely milled, they both set your makeup, and they are both essentially colorless (white). I prefer the RCMA powder 100 times over because it does not sit in my fine lines. The Laura Mercier powder did, and I had to be very careful when applying it. If you have dry skin, you will probably prefer the RCMA powder because it is not drying at all either. Another bonus: It is less than 1/2 the price for more product.
Four: NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are such a dream! There are so many liquid lipsticks that are so drying, but this one is kind of a hybrid between a lipstick and a liquid lipstick where consistency is concerned, making it easy to wear. My go to shade for every season is Prague – it’s the perfect muted pink with a hint of purple.
Five: Laura Geller’s Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey has been on repeat all summer. It is a metallic gold, but it can be used on pretty much any skin tone from pale to very dark. I love that this highlighter is appropriate for just about any occasion too. It’s not to WHAM BAM – in your face, and it gives a beautiful glow that is buildable.
Six: It! Cosmetics has created the perfect mascara – the Superhero Mascara is incredible, hands down the best mascara I have ever used. It lengthens and thickens your lashes without making them clumpy. Never have I used a mascara that does both so well, without making your lashes look like spider legs. You need it. Now.
Seven: It’s no wonder that Anastasia Beverly Hills glosses are so popular. They’re creamy, pigmented, and have extreme wearing power. ‘Barbie’ is my all time favorite pink lip color to wear out of every bright pink formula that I own.
Eight: It! Cosmetics’ Bye Bye Undereye Concealer is creamy and gives amazing coverage. Your under-eye area could be black, and this stuff will cover it. It does not crease or move (make sure you set it with a powder – I use the RCMA powder).
What are your makeup favorites?
