It is officially the end of summer, with kids starting to go back to school, and stores breaking out their fall pieces. Where did the summer go?! I feel like this summer went by SO fast and I’m kind of sad about it. Luckily it stays pretty warm in the bay area until October, but I still like to dress for the season even if it is still hot as hell outside.
The easiest way to dress for the season without baking yourself to death is to update your color scheme. I personally like to bring out cognacs and lightly layer my summery pieces in these hues.
It’s also totally okay to mix and match the same hue in varying shades. I kept this look consistent by matching the vest to the shoes, and I love that the dark cognac of the skirt adds a big pop to the outfit without being too loud and summery.
If you don’t know where to start with your summer to fall transition wardrobe, start by cleaning out any brighter pieces. Neutrals and jewel tones are the easiest colors to work with for fall, so pairing those items with a white tee, or a pair of jean shorts is a great way to update your look without wearing a full on snow bunny outfit.
Layering is also key. For those chilly nights in August and September, wear your normal summery outfit, but add a faux leather jacket or a utility jacket to add some edge and warmth.
What is your favorite way to transition from summer to fall?

Lynn
