Living in California, it’s easy to wear summer clothes through October…it’s so HOT. As I’ve mentioned here recently, I am over my summer wardrobe and I just want to cozy up in a chunky fall sweater. Until it’s cool enough for that to happen, embracing a transitional wardrobe is necessary.
My tips on how to look ‘fall’-ish without sweating your ass off:
+ Introduce dark colors: Like I did with this outfit, I wore my tie front poplin top (which has become an essential piece in my closet) with a silky bronze skirt. I love how tie front tops look paired with skirts or high waisted jeans – perfect for a night of eating pasta.
+ Mix textures: During this transitional season, I like to wear a summery, light cotton piece with something more luxurious. Silky textures are great for when it’s still warm outside rather than a knit or tweed.
+ Swap sandals for booties: I love wearing booties with bare legs to show off my (fake) tanned legs a little longer.
A transitional look goes deeper than just clothes – I like to change up my hair, makeup, and skincare at this time as well. My skin has been dryer than ever, so I’ve been exfoliating 3 times per week to get rid of flakiness, and have added extra steps to deeply hydrate my skin. As for makeup, I love breaking out deeper tones and amping up the bronzer to maintain a summer glow.
Let me know how you transition your wardrobe between seasons – always looking for new tips!
