Why You Need to be Using a Vitamin C Serum

It doesn’t matter how old you are or what skin type you have….you NEED to be using a Vitamin C product on your skin because it has so many amazing benefits.

I am your trusty guinea pig, and I have tried 6 Vitamin C products over the last 2 years, and can confidently say that Kakadu Vitamin C is my favorite. Reason being: I can SEE and FEEL the difference in my skin when using this product every morning. The benefits of using a Vitamin C on your skin are numerous, beginning with the most popular – it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

You might be wondering what Kakadu is? I did, too.

Wild harvested in the remote Australian Kimberley and NW Territory, Kakadu Plum puts the SUPER in super fruit.

Ounce per ounce, Kakadu plums contain on average 55 times the vitamin C of Florida oranges.*

Vitamin C helps protect against pollutants, oxidative stress and free radical damage, and may help improve skin elasticity, firmness and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Kakadu Plum grows in the remote bush of the Australian Kimberley and Northwest Territory.  It is here that the Kakadu Plum is sustainably wild harvested during the monsoonal season of the hot, inhospitable Australian summer.  Hand picked by the Aboriginal people, each tiny fruit is gathered from trees found at random.

The Kakadu Plum is considered a gift of the Dreamtime, the sacred Aboriginal era during which ancestral spirit beings created the world. Aboriginal legend teaches generation after generation the secrets of this extraordinary fruit.

What initially drew me to Kakadu C was its high potency (it is 20% stabilized vitamin C), it’s cruelty-free, dermatologist tested and approved, hypoallergenic, and noncomedogenic. It is also formulated without dye, fragrance, and gluten.

Now for the full list of benefits of using a Vitamin C on your skin:

♡ Promotes Collagen Production

Vitamin C boosts collagen production, which fills in lines and wrinkles. With a concentrated product like Kakadu C, MAJOR prevention takes place as far as aging goes. Can you say saving money on botox?!

♡ Protects skin from the sun

Since Vitamin C is an antioxidant, it naturally strengthens your skin and repels damage. It shouldn’t be an alternative for sunscreen, but it does protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.

♡ Speeds up healing

Studies have also found that high levels of Vitamin C can help to speed up the body’s natural healing processes. It can help to heal small cuts, acne scars, and other blemishes more quickly and effectively.

♡ Helps with discoloration

If you suffer from skin redness or other discoloration of the skin, then a a vitamin C serum may also be able to help you achieve a more uniform skin tone and better complexion. Specifically, vitamin C is great for reducing embarrassing redness. This has been very true for me, as I deal with rosacea and have dealt with it since I was 10 years old. Vitamin C reduces my redness by about 30%. This also goes for reducing the appearance of under-eye circles! This stuff is seriously magic when it comes to discoloration.

♡ Reduces inflammation

Vitamin C is known to reduce inflammation, which is incredible for reducing puffiness in the face. I’m all about facial massage to reduce puffiness, and the combination with the use of a vitamin C serum is life-changing. I feel like I lost 5 pounds after massaging my face with Kakadu C!

How I use Vitamin C

I like to apply vitamin C serum once per day, in the morning, to my face and neck (massaging for a few minutes) after using toner. After the massage is done, I apply the rest of my skincare and makeup.

…simply my name…

All Gussied Up is still alive through my blog and YouTube channel & aren’t going anywhere! I’m a little emotional making the switch here but it feels like the right time.

I started All Gussied Up over 10 years ago and have shared wellness, beauty, and style content here since then. And since I’ve begun my journey to become a certified professional life coach, there has been a huge internal shift for me & what I feel called to share.

That means that I will still share all of the above in addition to my personal journey to fulfillment, whatever that looks like (because it’s always evolving!), tools to help you find yours, and just simply how I am inspired to live a beautifully aligned life from the inside out.

so happy you’re here 💋
SLEEPY 😴 GIRL MOCKTAIL 🍹 I had to try the t SLEEPY 😴 GIRL MOCKTAIL 🍹
I had to try the trending mocktail recipe for myself and it WORKS! Plus I love a good cocktail so was down to give it a try. I did make it my own though to include some gut-health goodness as well.

THE RECIPE:
½ a can of kombucha
½ a cup of tart cherry juice (I love the Whole Foods Organic 365 brand)
Ice
Squeeze of lime

🧪 The science behind the drink
Research shows that tart cherry juice increases sleep time and sleep efficiency because it increases the bioavailability of tryptophan and increases your body’s production of melatonin.
The Kombucha adds a good fizz to the drink, and the probiotics it contains can contribute to optimal gut health

Cheers 🥂 lmk if you try! 🍒
✨ @oxygenetix oxygenating concealer 🪄 I had ✨ @oxygenetix oxygenating concealer 🪄

I had to share this concealer with you because it has been an absolute favorite for about a year now. While everyone is talking about more mainstream brands – this one deserves all.the.applause. 👏🏼 It’s clean AND it works. Like really works to cover dark circles, redness, etc. It also promotes oxygen absorption which = hydration. So it’s basically like skincare IN a makeup product. The icing on the cake is that it doesn’t cake or settle in to fine lines, making it fabulous for mature skin.
I use a blend of shades 1.0 and 2.0 under my eyes and on my lids as a primer and let me tell you, it’s FLAWLESS 🪄

@livinglibationsofficial Jai Baby Joy Moisturizing Massage Oil’s description is on point: infuses your baby’s skin with Fresh-infused Vanilla beans dipped in Coconut crème joined with jubilant Jojoba create a moisturizing elixir. We’ve loved this oil since Z was a baby and find that it hydrates her skin so nicely after bathtime. Plus the smell is intoxicating! No fake fragrances or additives. 🥥

Life-flo Pure Magnesium Spray: Magnesium is calming and we use this spray with the Baby Jai Oil at night and find that it really helps to wind down and with sleep. 👼🏻

@juicebeauty Sport Sunscreen: this one is not targeted for children, but after 6 months of age, babies/kids can wear sunscreen and we opted to apply this one as it has the same ingredients (20% zinc) as baby mineral sunscreen.

@kudostobaby diapers: We’ve quickly become diaper connoisseurs and our favorite by far are Kudos because they’re 100% cotton AND disposable. Kudos contains no lotions, fragrances, chlorine, phthalates, or latex. LOVE. If you want to give them a try for yourself, you can take $$ off your order with code LYNN10

@boka Space Paste (Orange Cream) toothpaste is a nod to NASA’s invention of nano-hydroxyapatite (nHa). Boka trades fluoride for n-Ha which was a must when we were looking for a clean toddler toothpaste. Plus, it’s 100% biocompatible and non-toxic. Z always asks for more!

retinol was an ingredient that I stopped using whe retinol was an ingredient that I stopped using when I was pregnant & still avoid as I am breastfeeding. as a side note, many traditional skincare products containing retinol also come with parabens which can negatively affect your health.

so I set out to research products & ingredients that’d have a similar effect that are safe for pregnancy/breastfeeding and also clean. I found MOON JUICE from @herbivorebotanicals which is a plant-based, retinol-alternative serum containing 1% bakuchiol.

Bakuchiol has all of retinol’s benefits, but you won’t experience redness, dry skin, burning etc and as someone with sensitive skin, I can vouch for that. after using it for a month, I can see it working ✨ link to the exact product is in my skincare highlight 💖
✨AT HOME LASH EXTENSIONS✨ When it comes to eye ✨AT HOME LASH EXTENSIONS✨
When it comes to eyelashes, I sadly didn’t win luscious ones in the gene pool.
I love long, thick & fluttery lashes and I’ve tried everything from strip lashes to salon extensions to lash serums. All of the above damaged my natural lashes.

But then I started hearing some great things about @lashify DIY lash extension system. I was excited to try it, but honestly a little skeptical. But I’m SO glad I did because the results are game-changing. My lashes have never looked better!

The lashes (gossamers, the term lashify uses) I am wearing here are the chocolate stardust style in lengths 12 and 14 (two 12’s on the inner eye and two 14’s on the outer eye area). If you’re wanting a more natural looking lash, the chocolate color is sooo good. It’s a dark brown that will make your eyes pop but won’t give you that stark contrast that black does.

Lashify’s DIY lash extension system is not like salon extensions or glue-on strip lashes. The gossamers are applied to the underside of your natural lashes for a seamless look. AND Lashify's formulas are ophthalmologist-tested, hypoallergenic and free of irritants, such as formaldehydes, cyanoacrylates and latex.
It takes me about 10 mins start to finish for both eyes.

These stay on for daysss and make life so much easier & of course more glam 💖
