Everything you Need to Know on Wedding Hair Styling with Taylor Cercone

Meet the gorgeous and most talented braid/up-do stylist ever – Taylor Cercone! I mean, how freaking amazing is her color and braid here?! Taylor has been a cosmetologist for over 10 years, but over the past 4 years, she has ventured into specializing in styling only. And mainly for brides. Her knowledge and talent is pretty impressive – she has styled Jessica Chastain, Amber Valetta, Rosanna Arquette among other celebrities’ hair over the years.

When Taylor and I met to style my hair and Irresistible Me Extensions, all I knew was that I wanted something dramatic and BIG with lots of braids and knots. Taylor worked her magic without really any other guidance than my non descriptive idea and it came out AMAZING. Seriously, my hair has never looked so good styled in a braid. I want to keep her and have her do my hair everyday ;).

If you are in the bay area in California and are a bride or going to a special event, Taylor is your gal. She travels all over for weddings to – lucky duck is going to Hawaii soon for a wedding!

Read on for my interview with Taylor on bridal hair, trends, and more…

Lynn: What advice would you give brides on deciding what kind of hairstyle to wear on their wedding day?

Taylor: Typically, when I give advice to my brides on choosing a style, I like to mention that they should first start with how they wear their hair on a day-to-day basis. If they’re normally a ponytail type of girl, they would probably really like an Updo so their hair stays out of their face. The same goes with if the bride wears their hair down a lot. A Half-Updo or a pretty down style would be perfect for them! If they’re worried about it not being formal enough, I always recommend hair accessories that would go well with their dress. I then go into the time of year they’re getting married and where. Humidity and heat can really make a difference in the style they choose. If it’s super warm, wearing their hair down may not be the best option because of sweat/heat in general coming from the body. Where there is heat around the shoulders, curls are sure to fall out no matter how much hairspray you apply!

Lynn: What trends do you see emerging in the hair world for 2017?

Taylor: As far as 2017 trends, I’m still seeing a lot of romantic styles; pretty loose updos and face framing pieces coming down. Braids are still very much trending!  Braids are great because they’re so elegant when they’re pulled out and they add a nice texture to any up style. Loose waves are still really in as well, nothing tight!  Cut and colors are not my specialty BUT I’m noticing a lot of women are getting more daring with color melts, balayage and fun brighter colors!  I’ve noticed that a lot more mauve and cool tones are in as well.

Lynn: What is your favorite bridal hairstyle?

Taylor: My favorite bridal hair styles are updos with a LOT of hair and a lot of extensions!  Volume and length also always add to a more eye-catching updo.  Brides if you’re thinking of having an updo done, I highly recommend that you get some clip-ins!

Lynn: Any last words of advice for brides?

Taylor: Day of wedding advice is to have a few bobby pins on hand to keep any stragglers out of place from hugging and dancing, etc.

And there you have it! If you’re looking for amazing clip-in extensions for your big day, I highly, highly recommend Irresistible Me Extensions. They are excellent quality, they look real, and make you feel like a goddess. For reference, the ones I’m wearing here are the Silky Touch 220 gram Platinum in 22 inches.

a few ways that getting dressed/fashion is spiritu a few ways that getting dressed/fashion is spiritual:

1. experimenting with what you wear can help you see yourself in a different way & provokes inspiration.
2. Getting dressed in the morning is a way to have fun by expressing your beautiful soul for everyone to see.
3. when you feel confident in what you’re wearing, you FEEL good.

my style evolution: I used to wear a lot of black & shunned expressing my femininity with the clothes that I wore because I was following trends. NO MORE. now: give me all the feminine LEWKS and colors 🌈

on motherhood & embracing femininity 💖 During on motherhood & embracing femininity 💖

During the first few months of my Z’s life, my body & soul felt burnt out. looking back, it was hard (and still is!) to prioritize just taking a few deep breaths each day. totally not trying to sound dramatic like so many Oprah IG captions 🤣 but it’s the truth.

during a meditation session recently, my intuition called out and invited me to reconnect with my feminine side. I realized I had abandoned much of this ‘side’. this is where the journey of activating my divine feminine energy began for me. I’ll be sharing bits of my re-discovery here in hopes it will help you overcome the same and step in to your wholeness. 🤍

by wholeness, I mean not DOING IT ALL. being intentional & redefining the feminine experience.

some of the words I have reclaimed include…

emotional, ease, wild, & healing
