Dress | Jacket – similar | Boots – similar | Bag
I’ll give away the biggest “secret” to dressing for your body type first: it’s all about BALANCE. Have big hips? Balance them out with a structured jacket with subtle shoulder pads (not ’80’s, but the cool, sleek kind)…If you have a small chest (lucky you), add a ruffle-y top to add volume. You get the idea.
In a world full of ever-changing trends, it’s so important to know what works for you and your body type. Just think about what shape you have and contrast that shape with your clothing. I have an hourglass figure, so wearing pieces that are very flowy from top to bottom just make me look frumpy and much larger than I am. If I do wear a flowy item, I pair it with something more form-fitting.
Tips for accentuating and dressing your shape:
Find pieces that have some ruching or patterns that hit on your problem areas – such as the dress I’m wearing that allows you to bunch it around the midsection.
Proportion is everything. Want longer looking legs? Wear a miniskirt. Want to define your waist? Wear a jacket that hits right at the waist.
Find a style icon who has the same body type as you do to get a good idea of clothing that will best flatter your body.
